This year I tried to expand my knowledge on the contemporary art scene and what better way to do this than to visit two art fairs in one weekend? Bonus, it was my birthday so it was well spent.
Independent is an art fair that flew over from New York. Being honest, I never heard of it before, but I am glad I do now. This post isn’t really a list of my favourites in any particular order, it’s just a summary of some of the galleries and works that stayed with me the most.
David Zwirner
White Colums
The work by Patrick Carpentier spoke to me a lot, I guess it’s because of the element of stratigraphy in his sculpture which pleases my archaeology part of mind. (I can’t seem to find which gallery represented him.)
Office Baroque Gallery
Stems Gallery
Linn Lühn
Wilfried Lentz
Ellen de Bruijne Projects
Green Art Gallery
Aurel Scheibler
The huge amount of different artists, made this, personally, the perfect introduction in the contemporary art scene.
