As you may have noticed I like to experiment with shapes and colours. This is a serie of little pieces that I see as a pre study for a bigger work. It consists of little wooden blocks that I covered with different layers of acryl paint mixed with flour. The texture of the paint changes to a much more thicker consistency and when I smeared it on the block it sort of bounced back and held its shape eventually. Although I did smear on the layers and chose the colours, it has an organic feel to it (partly because of the bouncing back).
I was fascinated by the concept of layering. After smearing on four layers (each layer took about three – four days to dry) I sawed the blocks in two. From the side you get the reveal of the texture and the different layers.
